Graduate Hydrologist

We are seeking University Graduates with a BSc, BEng or higher degree.  The successful candidate will undertake data analysis and environmental modelling, with field-based investigations and monitoring from time to time.  As your skill level increases you will be given opportunities to liaise with clients, prepare reports, and manage projects. 


Key Attributes for a successful candidate

  • Tertiary academic training (M.Sc. or B.Eng (hons) preferred) in  hydrology and/or stormwater engineering;

  • Strong practical skills gained from a love of the outdoors;

  • A keen inquisitive mind and aptitude towards understanding cause and effect.

  • Strong interest in computer modelling (desirable).

  • Coding using Python, R, VB.Net or C# (desirable).

Specific skills required for this role include the following:

  • High-level interpersonal skills;

  • Excellent written and spoken English;

  • Environmental field investigations including water quantity and quality monitoring;

  • Data processing using MS Excel;

  • GIS mapping using QGIS;

  • Stream flow gauging;

  • Surface water flow and quality modelling experience;

  • Water quality monitoring and analysis;

  • Stormwater analysis and system design;

  • Modelling (what-if) impact assessment of land use change;

  • Data automation using Python, R and/or Visual Studio (C#, VB) would be an advantage;

  • Preparation of water-related RMA planning applications.


On-the-job training and support will be provided by experienced staff at WWLA.
