Our most recent recruit is Jessie Loft, who started working with WWA in March. Jessie has a Master of Science degree from Otago University, with a hydrological modelling thesis that distinguished between the impacts of water scarcity (insufficient water available to meet water use) and drought, to determine the availability of water for the management of low flow events and the health of the aquatic ecosystems. Jessie joined WWA after finishing a summer student role at the Waikato Regional Council in the environmental monitoring team, which included practical work relating to aquatic species, surveying, and water quantity and quality procedures within the Waikato region. Since starting at WWA Jessie has been working predominantly on the development of the Kaituna and Rangitaiki SOURCE catchment models for Bay of Plenty Regional Council
