We’re very pleased to welcome Sophie Fay to the WWLA team! Sophie joined us in September 2026 as a Contaminated Land Scientist, bringing a strong background in geology and valuable hands-on field experience.

After studying Geology at the University of Canterbury, Sophie spent two years working alongside underground and exploration teams at a gold mine in Otago. There, she gained practical experience working around drill rigs and heavy machinery while developing a broad understanding of geology across different areas of the mining industry.

Sophie was drawn to contaminated land work by the opportunity to combine fieldwork with technical problem-solving through environmental investigations. The variety of the projects and site locations was also a major attraction. She’s looking forward to applying her geological knowledge in a new setting while continuing to build her skills and expertise.

When she’s not at work, Sophie enjoys travelling and has a keen interest in all things automotive.

We’re excited to have Sophie on board and look forward to seeing all that she brings to the team. Please join us in giving her a warm welcome to WWLA!
