N & J Wood Ltd successfully obtained resource consents for a managed fill facility in Bombay, South Auckland in May 2025.
WWLA provided technical contamination, hydrology, planning and project management services to support the consenting of this project.
In the three-day Council hearing heard by a panel of three Independent Commissioners, the WWLA team alongside a suite of other specialists, including noise, ecological, traffic and landscape and visual experts, presented extensive evidence covering all aspects of the proposal.
The managed fill facility, which will have capacity for approximately 690,000 m3 of fill material over a 12 year period, is understood to be one of the first managed fill facilities to be consented under the amended Freshwater Regulations.
Managed fill projects are inherently challenging to consent and often have high public interest because of potential traffic, dust, noise and loss of wetland related issues. WWLA was pleased to be able to assist with this project and to satisfy the Commissioners that the overall effect of the managed fill would be no more than minor.
