Heading 2
Ruahuwai (Upper Waikato) Catchment Model
Client: Wairakei Pastoral Limited
Project Overview
To develop and calibrate groundwater models for the Lake Taupo and Lake Ohakuri catchments. These models were designed to stimulate groundwater flow, nitrate-N, and tritium, with the ultimate goal of providing data and reporting to support a resource consent application.
Technical Solutions
The project involved a comprehensive suite of solutions, including the construction and calibration of MODFLOW, MT3DMS, and MODPATH numerical models. Fieldwork included drilling supervision and lithological logging, alongside Childs Test analysis to determine groundwater redox status. A key technical step was the integration of the groundwater model with a SOURCE surface water model, complemented by detailed geospatial data analysis and mapping.
Client
WWLA was commissioned by Wairakei Pastoral Ltd to support a resource consent application.
