Graduate Contaminated Land Scientist

Sophie joined the WWLA team in September 2026 as a Contaminated Land Scientist.

Sophie studied Geology at the University of Canterbury before working with underground and exploration teams at a gold mine in Otago for two years. Through these roles, she gained practical fieldwork and developed a strong understanding of geology across different aspects of the mining industry.

Sophie enjoys the combination of field work and technical problem-solving involved in environmental investigations and is particularly interested in applying her geological background to contaminated land while continuing to develop her knowledge and skills in the field.

Outside of work, Sophie enjoys travelling and has a massive interest in all things automotive.
