Kevin Burdette

Hydrogeologist

Kevin joined WWLA as an Intermediate Hydrogeologist in March 2026.

He holds a PhD in Geology from McMaster University in Ontario, Canada, where his research focused on Quaternary coastal stratigraphy and geochronology, with particular emphasis on relative sea level determination using ground penetrating radar (GPR) and optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) dating. In simple terms, OSL measures the last time a mineral grain, typically quartz or feldspar, was exposed to sunlight. During his doctoral research, Kevin also contributed to the advancement of an emerging geochronological method, Electron Spin Resonance dating.

Kevin’s professional experience spans the energy and environmental sectors. He worked in the oil and gas industry as a remote geosteerer for eight years before transitioning into environmental consulting, where he spent several years applying his geological expertise to a range of projects. His technical strengths include stratigraphic interpretation, geophysical analysis, and complex problem solving, and he enjoys collaborating within multidisciplinary teams.

Outside of work, Kevin is an enthusiastic fly fisher who enjoys tying flies, building fly rods, and exploring the outdoors. He also values time at home, tending the garden and spending time with his wife and dogs.
